It certainly is a new definition and complete transition in life when you shift from being concerned mostly about yourself, and perhaps a few other people to being a parent caring for your child. What's most interesting is how excited you get over a bowel movement. I mean, seriously? A little funny to think of at times, yes indeed, but when your child doesn't poop for two weeks I suppose any reasonable parent would be concerned (at least for the first child eh?). Well, not like we threw a party or anything, but thank god Maiya finally did some business, two days in a row. Funny how we're much more relieved, but I'm sure she's much more relieved than even we are!

As usual, I think I am starting this post with a "wow how time flies and how quickly she is growing and changing!" statement. It's just a fact of life now!
Our little rinky dinky is even less rinky dinky! She's 4 months old now, as of August 3rd, and officially out of that extra difficult new born / infant stage, also known as the 4th trimester. And while she still isn't the world's happiest baby, she is a joy to have around! She is such a good girl- even with her little temper. She knows what she needs, and let's us know! Sometimes we can't do what she needs fast enough- like letting her out of her carseat- and then her temper comes out and, well, she's not such a joy. Haha.
We had her 4 month appointment, and while it was heartbreaking giving her her shots, it was exciting to get her official height and weight. Our baby, at her tiniest of 5 lbs 2 ounces, is now (well, a few days ago) 14 lbs 11.6 ounces!! That's an increase of 9 lbs 9 oz! She was at the second percentile, and now she's in the 75th!! What a gain, my little darling Mahaha.
She's also getting to be a tall girl- born at 19.5, she's now 25 inches long! Also the 75th percentile. Grow Maiya grow!!
In exciting news, she has had a few more firsts! Her first time to the Oakland Zoo with her Gamma and Granddad, her first time to "her" park, and her first time ushering at a theater. Fun fun!
Here's my beautiful darling on her 4 month birthday!

Maiya actually LIKES to go out, despite hating the car seat. In fact, around noon or 1 she starts to get rather fidgety if we don't pack up to go somewhere.
Luckily for my little social butterfly, we had plans today to go for a walk with some friends. We went to Sequoia Arena with Lydia and her family. Poor Brian JUST switched to night shift, so he had a tough, tiring day, but I hope he had a good time, too. And poor Ronin tripped on the way back and got a big cut on his forehead, so we had to hurry back so they could take care of him. Despite Ronin's big owie and Brian's utter lack of sleep, I think it was a good walk!
Maiya did well. We started her in the stroller, which didn't last long, and then I put her in the carrier- forward facing, for the first time. She loved facing forward, was so happy she could see everything! I was worried she wouldn't sleep, since she was so tired, but she did! Not long, but still, I think forward facing is good for her.
Oh, and remember she had her first time in a jumper last week? Well, Gamma just had to go out and get her a Jumperoo for her house! So she now has one, too. She likes it, but gets frustrated pretty quickly since she hasn't yet figured out how to play with the toys or jump. But I think she'll learn quickly and it will probably be one of her favorite things soon!

One day away from 16 weeks (when her Grandad keeps telling her she can drive- at 16!) and 4 days away from 4 months, and Maiya is making HUGE progress! The last few days we have had SO many firsts, it's amazing!
If you count the pictures I posted yesterday as her first time being "twinsies" with her Momma, then that's another first yet, hah!
She's very good at rolling over, even though she doesn't LIKE to do it so doesn't do it often.
She had her first time being layed in her crib awake and falling asleep on all her own!!
She had her first time playing with a rattle.
Her first time reaching out and grabbing toys.
Her first time in a Jumperoo.
Her first time being called "Queen" by one of my friends, hehe.
Her first time with her Granddad walking her in her stroller instead of wearing her while Momma worked.
Her first time playing with her rattle! <3
